Women Oral History Project – Phase 2

Project: Women Oral History Project – Phase 2
Duration: From January 2007 until December 2007
Funded by: ACSUR, Las Segovias.

Women in media are usually seen through stereotypes where they are marginalized socially, politically…etc. Therefore, the women oral history project seeks to highlight exceptional Palestinian women who succeeded in defying or changing the status quo by giving them the opportunity to talk about their distinguished roles in the different fields affecting the Palestinian society.

By giving the appropriate training for about 20 media men and women from eight different local TV stations in the West Bank, the participants were able to produce nine documentaries in the Oral History phase one and another nine documentaries in Oral History Phase two presenting Palestinian women talking about their successful achievements in politics, economy, and social services and their contributions to Palestinian society in surviving the hardships it passed through during last century. Through the documentaries, we can see how Palestinian women participated in building and reviving the Palestinian society each through her own field.
